  • Corso Italy is one of the most lively and busy city of Pisa streets. It belongs to the District of San Martino. Pedestrian, is considered as the main street shopping in Pisa. in around 1 km long, can find dozens of shops of fashion, accessories, beauty, the most representative of international market brands. But the parade of Italy is more than a simple shopping street. Up from the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, to put you di Mezzo we find: the number 143 in the small church of San Domenico, had the annexed convent of the Dominican nuns. The small church was built in the 14TH century by Pietro Gambacorti for his daughter, the blessed Chiara. A beautiful building in Liberty style, built in 1911 by architect Studiati, which currently houses a shopping center next to the Church. The great Church of Santa Maria del Carmine. Side walls are original from the 14TH century, while the facade belongs to the 17TH century. The statue in the square represents Nicola Pisano and was made by Salvini in 1826. The interior is decorated in the Baroque style, with the exception of the sacristy, which is furnished with original pieces of wood from the 15TH century. The Church has a beautiful cloistered courtyard. If you continue towards the River are several noble palaces until it finally reaches the Logge dei Banchi, a porticoed building built at the beginning of the 17TH century, used as a prison. market of wool and silk, and more evening market of food. Today houses the market monthly of antiques (2 nd Sunday of each month) and the market of Christmas. The superior room is part of the national archives.
