  • Newly renovated Archaeological Museum, a beautiful and interesting experience in Etruscan and Roman times, with unique exhibits. Staff very polite and friendly.

  • The Museum is located in a historic building is located in a part of the ancient Citadel, residence of the Princes Appiani and of Princess Elisa Baciocchi, Napoleon's sister. This is the new Palace (including the old stables and lodgings of the Court of Appiani) which before as Museum, was used as social housing, as public security barracks and gave the seat to a vocational school. The restoration project was signed by engineers and architects Pier Luigi Cervellati, John Maffei Goldfinches and Alberto Mamma. The Museum aims to illustrate the history of the territory and use of its resources, including in particular mining. The materials are dated from prehistoric times to the Etruscans (tombs from the necropolis of Populonia) and Roman.

  • We visited the Archaeological Museum of Piombino as a logical consequence after the visit of the Archaeological Park of Baratti. Beautiful power observe the objects found in the necropolises that we had visited before. A lot of very interesting pieces of prehistoric, Etruscan and Roman period. Splendid and suggestive reconstructions of tombs Etruscans, Etruscan banquet or a Roman wreck. The Museum that is perfect for children, with several objects to touch and interactive terminals. Children are under the spell of this trip in antiquity. I highly recommend visiting this Museum in family, and after visiting the cemeteries of Baratti, to better enjoy the exhibits. For francophones: at the reception a perfectly bilingual French lady.

  • Quite some history. A small but decent museum.
  • one of the finest museums I've ever seen. Explained everything very well. Iterates over a span of hundreds of years and has very rich collections, enjoyable, well placed, nicest people. Worth the trip.

  • Etruscan Museum with many exhibits. To visit at least once. A visit of 2 hours is enough to get an idea.

  • We visited Populonia in late April, one day during the week. The Museum was closed. The sign indicated that the Museum in April is only open on weekends despite many long weekends and holidays. A disappointment.
