  • at roccapelago Mo was found a cemetery dating back to the early ' 700 (about) where you are mummified due to natural occurrences, several dozen bodies of every age. It was created a Museum for undoubted merit of the lady who explained the history of the fortress that was found, everything is accessible by children. Congratulations and thanks to the kind and talented lady who made us aware of the history of the events that occurred in this small mountain village, some hundreds of years ago.

  • A few years have passed since random discovery, during the restoration of the floor of the Church of Roccapelago, a crypt full of perfectly preserved mummies. The burials took place between 1500 until around 1700. The Museum starts with the story of strategic importance of the castle of Roccapelago in 1300 was the last bastion between Emilia and Tuscany. In the Hall through the exhibition of paintings arranged in chronological order we understand the fierce battles fought by the famous Obizzo da Montegarullo, notably thanks to the delicious miniature by Giovanni Secambi (historical lucchese) authentic chronicler reporter at the time. Beautiful medieval costumes of persons of high social rank and the reproductions of armor and weapons of the era. Exciting the room dedicated to personal and devotional objects including jackets, shirts, children's dresses, buttons and cuffs, belonged to the mummies. Many mummies were ricollate in their natural environment and are visible through a glass door or from the floor in the same church. Many thanks to our guides, Prof. SA Rachele and Prof. Enzo who demonstrated great skill and a living love in what they are doing. Thank you.. Thank you.

  • Well worth a visit. The explanations of the guides (voluntary) are clear and comprehensive. Two exhibitions (free) with a lot of material and a lot of "history".
