  • Pienza is a beautiful town and it's worth it to go through. If you have at least an hour of extra time, I suggest you look into the Palais des Papes. Ticket cost 7 euros, and the Interior is self-guided tour. Will go with you and the companion guide, but another interpretation alone does not pick up and rather accompanies and guards. In the Interior it's unfortunately no photo shoot. Look into the many furnished rooms of the former Pope Pius II. and there's quite a lot of what you see. Within the tour you look into large loggias, with lovely views of the surrounding landscape and the Val d'Orcia, there to take pictures of you. Already without a guide to see the couple's other rooms on the ground floor and a lovely garden.

  • To do the tour if you visit Pienza. A great view of the val d'Orcia. An important building

  • Huge Palace (relative to the size of the town) of compact spaces occupies a corner of piazza Pio II and one of its sides along the corso Rossellino. Beautiful courtyard entrance, in my opinion the most interesting architectural element along with the triple open gallery, the latter partly visible from the outside, from the opposite side of the corso Rossellino. To admire the gallery in its entirety, as well as the underlying roof garden (which is not great) and the rooms, still furnished, first floor, you have to make the entrance fee (€ 7.00) and join one of the guided tours that are done at set times (attention: the guide that accompanies there explains nothing, being his task only to accompany and supervise groups , leaving explanations at the audio guide, included in the price. Consider whether under these conditions it is worth the visit, based on the vs/interests, bearing in mind that the viw of the Palace you can enjoy from anywhere in the town, particularly at the lookout (located just beyond piazza Pio II) or from the promenade of Santa Caterina (outside the old Center, near piazza Dante).

  • Beautiful city and nice palazzo
  • A treasure chest full of beauties, artistic and cultural riches. A journey from 1400 to the present day. An exceptional legacy of Pope Pius II. To visit without delay

  • The palazzo overlooking Piazza Pio II, the façade is made of finely carved stone, has a square plan, has three floors. At some points in the facade are visible of coats of arms in stone, gold and silver. A large portal overlooking the square is the main entrance of the building. Inside the building there is a court with a porch supported by stone pillars. The Palace also includes a beautiful garden terrace that offers a unique and unrivalled on the Val d'Orcia.
