  • This Renaissance-style Cathedral cuts a fine figure of himself on the Piazza Pio II. The Interior is very bright thanks to the presence of the large glass windows of the Gothic style, there are several altarpieces dating from the mid-1400. In the crypt are preserved marble fragments of the Romanesque church of Santa Maria which stood here and that was demolished to make way to the today's Cathedral.

  • Beautiful Cathedral, as indeed all Pienza. Shame about the renovation work which, although necessary, deprive the most beautiful works of art by reducing the space of at least half, cutting out those entering from the best part of the Church. Hopefully they last shortly.

  • This cathedral was commission ed by Pope Pius ll and built in 1459. If you are looking for it, it is next to the town hall. The church is known as the Jewel of The Ideal City.

  • A beautiful church nestled in the charming village of Pienza. Imposing from the outside, looks out over a beautiful square. There is also a crypt which unfortunately we didn't get to visit. More than the Church itself fascinates the square in which it is located, surrounded by historic buildings.

The Central niche an eye that brings light to the central altar. At the top, the tympanum, the coat of arms of Piccolomini. Simple shapes and simple ....
