  • Thanks to the insert of La Stampa we discovered these true goodies (I'm still 2 castles to be visited and a third to be restored), unknown to most because of absence of advertising as well as financial contributions from the region. Is a miracle what has been done to date by the municipality of Lagnasco and volunteers who work inside. Very friendly and helpful receptionist. Interesting exhibitions inside the castles and the garden of aromatic plants. To recommend ...

  • I discovered this by visiting the castle of Fossano. The Guide also told us of Fossano Castle Catello di Lagnasco and I went to visit him the next day. Unfortunately the town of Lagnasco is an infinite sadness: a group of anonymous houses surrounded by some industry and a vast plain where fruit is grown. But in the southern part of the village lies the Castle, which is really the sum of many castles, in fact the exact wording is "Castles Tapparelli d'Azeglio". The castles are open only on Sundays and not be visited during the colder months. At the entrance you will be given a tablet describing the various rooms. The description can also be played using the audio button. First we visit the oldest Castle in the East, and in the worst State. Then it goes to the Castle West, bigger, more spectacular and best preserved. You end your visit with the garden where herbs and vegetables are grown. Surely the complex still requires significant restoration work, especially on the outside, but the potential is impressive. The complex is very large and is also used as a meeting place for local associations. Also before the renovation work has always been used by local people for social activities, so it's always been a catello "alive". Unfortunately, only about thirty years ago started the job retraining and much work still needs to be done. Unfortunately a strongly negative impact is the external environment: the external facades are very degraded. A few meters away from the castles are horrendous fate of private villas. The farm next to the Castle West, definitely belonged to the family Tapparelli d'Azeglio as it bears the family coat of arms, is now inhabited and pours in dramatic conditions and disordered. I think it is necessary to greatly expand the opening, for example opening also on Saturdays. Thus revenue from entrance fees would duplicate. Very nice idea of tablets but listening at high volume descriptions might annoy those who want to admire the castles in silence. In some rooms the audio to be heard are two: two groups of visitors, therefore, could annoy each other. It would be much better to provide a headset. When we finished the tour, at the entrance there was a person who expected that someone would return the tablet since all tablet available were completed. Certain parts of the Castle are open to the public as used by local associations. West Castle houses an art gallery which includes paintings of famous painters (e.g. Carrà and De Pisis). Definitely highly recommended a visit because it was such a wonderfull place. With the hope that the restoration works continue quickly.

  • I wanted to visit the Castle out of curiosity and I honestly didn't expect it to be so big and so beautiful! We were greeted very kindly by the person to the bilglietteria who gave us the audioguide and explained in broad outline the path of the visit. A succession of rooms very nice, not to mention the frescoes restored ... a gem. Inside the castle there is also a permanent exhibition of artists of 800/900, including a Damo and Guttuso. Also the garden of essences absolutely loved it. A really enjoyable and interesting to visit dua doorstep. Recommend a visit to everyone!
