  • Back at Calabria from Caltanissetta and being lunch time we decide to make a stop in Piazza Armerina; We find for the old town and how we often in Sicily we remain fascinated by the beauty and culture of the countries. Definitely worth visiting for those who pass by.

  • We had a pleasant surprise to see the degree of conservation of the mosaics of the villa. The route with the car from Caltanissetta and the landscape surrounding the villa are precious. Arriving at the parking lot we were offered for €10 an illustrated guide that has good explanations of each one of the rooms of the villa: simple and concise, making the visit very interesting.

  • We did not expect so much art, so much culture, so much beauty ... Unfortunately it is a disarming beauty but also run down since the 17th century Churches are abandoned and in danger, let complete surrender. It's a shame for all that is lost and that could be a factor of wealth for the local population. The people are welcoming and are committed to valuing what they have but obviously not enough. You should also visit the small mineral Museum showing the history not too far of the territory, the mines of sulphur, the fatigue of young people. I really hope you can arrive a day an order from above complete renovation to Piazza Armerina, a fine heritage which deserves another consideration.
