Rocca d'Olgisio Reviews
La superba posizione a quota 566 m, la storia millenaria, l'architettura composita e la singolare planimetria fanno di questa rocca una delle maggiori attrattive della Val Tidone e dell'intero territo... more »The superb location at an altitude of 566 m, the thousand-year history, the composite architecture and unique floor plan make this rock one of the highlights of the Val Tidone and the entire surrounding area. Rugged and isolated sandstone from the rock on which it stands is very extensive and spectacular panoramic views from the Apennines to the Po Valley up to the snowy peaks of the Alps with the mass of Monte Rosa. The fortified complex, interesting and very articulate, in its various components can be read like a book of history, from the earliest records dating back to the year 1000 (but the origins are more remote) up to the episodes of the resistance to fascism, through UPS and downs over the centuries saw several protagonists, including the family From worm-had by Gian Galeazzo Visconti in 1378-talking retained possession until the end of the eighteenth century. Of great charm, with many picturesque spots, the ancient and very deep well (with, apparently, of secret passage to the outside), the 16th century Loggia, a nice little courtyard, large frescoed room. Definitely a sight to give priority to visiting the Val Tidone and the province of Piacenza.

The Guide/guardian tired and out of breath tells without any enthusiasm the vicissitudes of this place. Legend has it that one of the first owners was the father of Sante Liberata e Faustina; then the property of the monks of San Savino, finally stately home of Dal Verme. Now private property.

Is located at 564 m above sea level in height that still allows a panoramic view over the Po Valley and the surrounding valleys. It is possible to visit and stay.
Nice place, the tour is only in Italian...
Wonderful experience, the rock comes in a good state of preservation and the owners are slowly restoring the individual parts furnishing them from time to time, the cost of the tour is only via Guide and in my case it was very competent. the visit takes about a couple of hours and well worth it.
Very old. Very high up, hard to get to by bike. It's worth it
Evocative place and with beautiful views. Compulsory stop for those who spend in the area
Beautiful landscape, wonderful la rocca downside you can enter only x visiting every hour since it is private and outside there are kiosks only parking
