Here time passes slowly here seems to have stepped back in time. I left from Chioggia who wish to spend a quiet day and Pellestrina I found peace and relaxation, the scent of the sea and I tasted great seafood. This island seems a microcosm in itself, here are still alive and strong traditions and simple things: fishing (main activities), the nets of fishermen, fishing vessels, fishing huts in the middle of the sea are evidence of this. Here the ladies spend a lot of time sitting in the doorway talking to the nearby, working lace, ancient tradition that has been handed down from mother to daughter, and to cook the freshly caught fish. You can explore the island on foot or riding your bicycle. After a nice walk and having tasted good fish, accompanied by vegetables grown in vegetable gardens, you can relax on the beach in front of the sea. If you would like to relax a bit, if you want a spending quiet days unpretentious Pellestrina is spot on.

Maybe in the summer tourism in "pollute" the atmosphere, but in February when we came back after so long, I found it charming in its simplicity and authenticity. Is a narrow strip of land, in the midst of colorful houses and streets, on the one hand, the beach and the lagoon, along which you can walk around, letting your gaze gets lost on the horizon. It is still inhabited and lived by the locals, so it still has that air of authenticity that has been lost in other beautiful, but now bent to mass tourism, other islands of the Venetian Lagoon. Here you will find the typical colorful houses, but some are even scuffed, there are little gardens, the gardens some cured, others not really, fishermen's nets stretched out in front of the houses or on the wall near the fishing boats. The houses have not yet given way to an invasion of bars, restaurants and b & BS. The impression it gives is of being in a timeless place and slightly frozen in time!

There are good places to eat fresh fish for every budget. It goes back a little back in time walking along the "lungolaguna" among the fishing boats moored and the alleys of the village. Fun to hear about the residents with their distinctive dialect. I'd say come and it was a great idea!
Serenity and ambience of yesteryear. Far from the frenetic pace of our society. Good food, pei landscapes, enchanting views, the charm of the lagoon and the sea.
Worst Beach I have ever seen. Illegal huts built with logs and awnings, trash along the beach, seaweed and gross things scattered on the sand, narrow Beach, actv crane in the background. I hope I don't go back there ever again
Beautiful country between the sea and the lagoon
Very warm. Near Venice and Chioggia.
