  • Advice to tourists, but also for pavesi not paying more attention to the beautiful monuments. The lights on the high and low reliefs of the façade have a show soprattuttoal sunset or night lighting

  • If you can't miss in your visit to this Basilica of Lombard origins. The exterior looks in sandstone ochre, unfortunately eroded by time, but the red-brick basilica from others of the same period and makes it unique. How unique is the Lombard Romanesque style interior with beautiful frescoes and mosaics and a unique plant. Here was crowned Frederick Barbarossa in 1155. A really impressive and unique ...

  • Wonderful lombardic-roman basilica, San Michele Maggiore stands here since 1100 and is today recognized as one of the most impressive churces of the Longobardic period.
  • Most beautiful church in the whole province.
  • The first church dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel was originally built in the Lombard period. Is first documented in the age of Grimoald (662-671) and probably its foundation dates back to that period. It had a primary role in ecclesiastical context Bunting: in the Carolingian age was entrusted to a College of clergy (the monks of St. Columbanus) and official ceremonies. In the 10th century the building appears in documents with the name of San Michele "major" and is referred to as the Palatine Church, that is linked to the Palace of the Kings, said to be a few blocks further north

  • Pavia, instead, beautiful, super-Romanesque. But here what almost touches is the dialogue that the buildings around are trying with the medieval giant that was already there for a while, like an ancient tree hardened in its bark. And so the Tower from backyards seven-nineteenth century goes on the square carrying as an outstretched hand in greeting his style "new", but citing, as a sign of friendship, the arches and the columns palatinobizantinonormannolongobarde.

  • The basilica of San Michele Maggiore, a masterpiece of Lombard Romanesque style, is one of the main churches in Pavia, dating from the 11th and 12th centuries. Very nice to visit. Represents Romanesque style in all its splendour.
