  • The sandstone façade was once full of reliefs. Over the years the bas-reliefs are leached by rainwater that crumble and melt away the sandstone. Until the last century reliefs were substituted with other equal with identical material from the original quarries; technique used normally in other monuments in the world. In recent times the restaratori tried to use precautionary techniques using surface chemicals that instead of leaving wash sandstone have caused the detachment to pieces, without saving anything; the reliefs were not replaced, with serious damage to the overall picture. The Interior is intact, preserved relics and important religious arts.

  • At sunset, when the Sun lights up the stone facade carved charm is even more intense. But I recommend to see the mosaic on the main altar, with a few of months represented and to the left the marcius cornator, symbol of spring with the hair blowing in the wind and engaged to blow in two horns to herald the new season.
