Palazzo Conte Federico, Palermo

4.8
A Palermo landmark and a supremely luxurious residence, Palazzo Conte Federico provides insight into life as a European aristocrat. The Hohenstaufen-descended count or his multi-talented wife will take you on a tour of their home (also a bed and breakfast), where you can glimpse fine decorations from around the world. Inspect a wealth of interesting artifacts, including antique armchairs, religious frescoes, and suits of armor. If you're lucky, the Countess may even treat you to a performance in the concert hall, where the impressive piano was once used by Wagner. • A very good example of the Barroco Normand influence over Sicily. Very enjoyable views and complementary to the astonishing Palatine chapel  more »
  • Beautiful property attended and guided by the descendants of Count Frederick. They tell you their story and you can see every room. They live there and they open your house to know a little more history

  • Amazing place, restored beautifully by a caring Contessa. The attention to detail in the restoration shows the love given to such a charming home. Congratulations.
  • If you've ever wanted a real taste of what Sicily is like you absolutely must come to see this place. Generations of the Federico family have lived here and their descendant has many surprises and secrets to share with those who are intrepid enough to check it out.
  • From outside it looks "normal" but inside is so interesting, full of unusual architectural details! At the entrance we were welcomed by the son of the noble family who lives there. A great man, very friendly, who told us a bit about the history of Italy & history of the palace.
  • I really enjoyed our visit here, so did my wife and my 18 year old daughter. There are no great art treasures to see but the Palazzo is still lived in by the Federico family and we were shown round by one of the sons of the family. The building is pretty amazing but the personal touch really made it feel special. The surrounding area is pretty rough and the visit was like an oasis of calm.
  • This place deserves a trip to Palermo. Members of the family welcome you into their home. You can visit a magnificent palace and climb the ancient tower dating back to 1100.
