Palazzo Conte Federico, Palermo

4.7
A Palermo landmark and a supremely luxurious residence, Palazzo Conte Federico provides insight into life as a European aristocrat. The Hohenstaufen-descended count or his multi-talented wife will take you on a tour of their home (also a bed and breakfast), where you can glimpse fine decorations from around the world. Inspect a wealth of interesting artifacts, including antique armchairs, religious frescoes, and suits of armor. If you're lucky, the Countess may even treat you to a performance in the concert hall, where the impressive piano was once used by Wagner. • An oasis of calm in the busy Palermo. We visited the Palace accompanied so very friendly and thoroughly by one of the sons of the landlord. We recommend everyone visiting, the cost of the ticket is worth is amply justified considered high maintenance costs. Taking into account that sometimes you spend figures for things of less value.

  • I'm not too into guided tours but the one for this is so worthwhile! The Conte's son gave my tour and it was awesome to learn about his family and the palazzo's place in Palermo's defense, Italian uni...  more »

  • We were two foreigners in a group of 9Italians and so maybe it could not be helped that the explanation provided in English was only 1/20th of the total time I had to spend waiting there (waiting for the longggg Italian explanations to be done). Would have felt better without a guide at all.
  • The greatest palace in Palermo with very interesting history. The guide was very kind. It was really worth to visit this place. 5/5
  • Alessandro and Alwine will give you a unique opportunity to travel back in time and discover the beauties of the only tower left standing of the ancient 12th century city wall. They are both outstanding hosts, and will make you visit unforgettable unfolding stories about the Palace, the history of the city and taking you through the countless rooms boasting historical furniture, paintings and sculptures beautifully coming together throughout their maison. Alessandro entertained us with insightful comments about the history of Italy and how the country was united, while Alwine told us about her wonderful experiences across the globe, and we were delighted to find out we shared a lot of common ground and views on both topics. All of this made our visit genuine, truly remarkable and unforgettable. If you are in Palermo, even just for one day, take 30 minutes to drop by. You won't regret it.
  • Nice place, nice staff. Very interesting
  • Outstanding place discovered on the visit, very kind and generous welcome by the family themselves and the house if full of surprises mixing old and modern. For those keen about vintage cars, go and have a look, talk to the conte himself as well.
