  • Way back in 1490 A.D. construction on this site began as a Franciscan shelter for needy and sick people known at the time as Gancia. Today this has become the site of a spectacular church featuring on...  more »
  • We visited this church after seeing the Martorana Church, and Santa C aterina ... and of course, this, much more bare, the impact delusi...ma us then, thanks to the talented and passionate Guide, we were able to capture the little gems of this church which the stuccoes of the Serpotta, the works of Pietro Novelli, typical marbles of Baroque Palermo , the wooden ceiling, the beautiful organ ... the thing that intrigued me the most was the find that the chapel dedicated to our Lady of Guadalupe, owned by the Spanish Royal family, is closed by a wall of cardboard because it should be restored and hence is completely invedibile.

  • Visited during the event "the ways of treasures" together with the contiguous State archives, is known by locals as "la Gancia" and is one of the most popular wedding churches in Palermo. Beautiful and rich though not lavish, well worth the visit.
