Chiesa di Santa Caterina d'Alessandria, Palermo

4.5
The Church of Saint Catherine is an important church of Palermo. It is located in the heart of the historic centre, between Piazza Bellini and Piazza Pretoria, in the same area of other well-known architectural landmarks like the churches of Martorana and San Cataldo, the Fontana Pretoria and the Palazzo Pretorio, headquarters of the Palermo municipality. The church is a synthesis of Sicilian Baroque, Rococo and Renaissance styles.

  • A spectacular Church. Advice to pair it to a guided tour of the cloister. Stefano in particular was very good. Congratulations to the staff. Candace

  • Another gem in Palermo to discover. Wonderful Baroque church to the whole, while the façade is in late Renaissance. Inside you can admire many stucco, frescoes, statues and many cherubs. With the cost of €5 I had the opportunity to visit the monastery inhabited by a few years ago by the nuns of clause and opened to the public by a year. Very impressive, it literally speechless and amazed inside. Just wish the visit the roof was closed, because this time you can't climb, but I will go there soon.

  • Beautiful church, relatively large has the distinction of some closed balconies with lattices and for a time at the cloistered nuns. Considered as well that is right in the Centre, in the pedestrian area, near the quattro Canti etc, well worth a visit, even if you are not, in my opinion, expect something memorable, giuseppep47

  • Staff are rude, have to pay twice to actually see the entire church. The church itself is very nice
  • Extraordinarily beautiful interior.
  • Worth a two euro entry fee. Very well-kept and preserved in its breath taking style . It is adviced for people staying in Palermo for more than two days.
  • Worth of 2 EUR entry. Royal Palace should be the same price after excluding Palatina Chappel from regular entry ticket.
  • Beautiful place and monument in the centre of the city
