  • The temple, dedicated to St. John the Baptist traces its history back to 11 century, when Sicijalija was conquered by the Normans, it was built on the grounds of the ruined Arab Castle. The Church later parked hospital and leper colony, hence the name of the Church. Now the Church is an example of early Norman style: simple, devoid of decorations of the façade with Arabian-style arches, framing a window. The church operates, but at the time of our visit was closed. Is far from the Center (20 minutes on foot from the train station), so get a second time in order to get inside, could not be reached for comment.

  • Considered the oldest Catholic Church in town, San Giovanni dei Lebbrosi is simple and bare of decorations but very impressive, with a nice garden around. Unfortunately the urban setting does not do justice to this important evidence, built nearly a Millennium ago. Visit to match with that of the nearby bridge of Admiral, but the Council only to those who are in Palermo at least 4 days (since in the historical centre you can visit the similar churches of San Cataldo and St. John of the hermits). Both sites are easily accessible from central station tram line 1 (Via Paolo Balsamo).

  • Arab-Norman style 1100 church really very beautiful in its simplicity. Inside you can admire a beautiful painted wooden crucifix, dating from the fifteenth century. Accommodation in the device a bit but worth it organize a couple of hours to go and visit because it is part of the Arab-Norman heritage route.
