  • Beautiful garden and charming, recommended on the hot days in Sicily to find some refreshment immersed in history, only flaw: the lack of accessibility for people with reduced mobility. Recommended stop at the Rotisserie feature right in front of the entrance

  • San Giovanni degli Eremiti is one of many examples of the mixture of styles that flourished in medieval architectural appearance is mainly Arabic Palermo, and the Interior, unlike what happens in other churches of Palermo, is simple and unadorned, though far from devoid of interest. The nicest thing about San Giovanni degli Eremiti though is probably the cloister, placed in a real garden where triumph many Mediterranean species if not typical of climates warmer yet from India to the prickly jasmine to banana trees. As in Spain or in Arab countries, the garden is designed so that the plants occupy all the space available, in order to increase moisture and shade. Definitely worth a visit not rushed and on a nice day. The sore point is the price to visit the complex, definitely on the high side. Remember that churches are places of worship and should be open to anyone unconditionally.

  • Dear Sirs and ladies, my wife and I spent a week in Palermo, from 28 December to January 3, 2017. We focused a lot on Arab-Norman heritage and especially on Unesco sites. Among these we visited San Giovanni degli Eremiti. The Church is very beautiful and evocative as almost all vestiges of Arab-Norman of Palermo. But: the bathroom is run down. After using it, I turned to one of the guards who gave me reason and apologized for the negligence that lasts for years because agencies will exchange shots the problem without ever giving solution. Within the site, along the way, you notice a hole deep enough. Does not escape to the large amount of garbage it contains. Oozed foul odor and attracting insects. Exit I speak with another custodian who says what has been known for disdaining the label several years but, as in the case of bathrooms, no one does anything about it. I am amazed and marvel that this beautiful site, which is under Unesco protection, is treated in this way. The entrance fee of € 6 should be enough to make respectable the site. To the above I ask you kindly to authority, municipality or region, to take the necessary steps to make about this successful presence that helps the city of Palermo and gives luster to the entire country.
