Chiesa del Gesù, Palermo

4.6/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web
Gaze at the endless display of Baroque architecture and adornments inside Chiesa del Gesù. Hidden inside a misleadingly plain exterior, detailed carved marble inlays cover the walls like a mosaic among statues and columns. Descend into the comparatively plain crypt, and after passing through the porticoed courtyard, view a large collection of portraits in the attached museum housed in the Biblioteca Comunale. Put Chiesa del Gesù and other Palermo attractions into our Palermo vacation generator, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Certainly among the top five monuments to visit in Palermo. Don't be fooled by the simple façade: after the initial glance, you can spend a lot of time to see all the wonderful details-the Church is richly decorated in its entirety, but not be heavy. Particularly beautiful decorations around the altar. For the entrance there are two possibilities: with 2 euros you can visit the only Church (which I recommend for those who are in Palermo only one day), while with 5 euro you can also visit the sacristy, the Museum, the crypt and the oratory on Saturday-it's worth it.

  • the richest baroque church in Palermo. try not to miss it!
  • Beautiful church, would've loved it if you can explore more inside.
  • Best over decorated church in palermo
  • One of the most exuberant baroque church in a typical Sicilian rococo style. Breathtaking! And what state of conservation! For lovers to be missed under any circumstances. Visit 5 euros. Worth them it. Do not forget the oratorio to the second floor.
