Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Paestum, Paestum

(4.3/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
Once an ancient Greek city founded by colonists, Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Paestum touts three well-preserved temples dedicated to Hera and Poseidon. The Doric columns that once held the roofs stand tall, though only a portion of the roofs remain. The city's defensive walls of the city are partially standing, along with 24 square watchtowers. Four of the original 28 towers were destroyed when the addition of an 18th-century road cut the city in two. Wander the ruins freely on your own, but wear comfortable walking shoes for the dusty terrain. • After this visit aware, after a first made in junior high, review or watch for the first time with shrewd eye above the museum requires some thought and then a return. Already from returning whenever possible because not only break of plunger but also smaller vessels or the forerunner to the safety pin or smaller frame weights I of the Temple of Hera deserve to be watched and covered several times as an example, a great example of civility that allows us to be fiercely Italians.

  • The Museum is definitely worth visiting. Collects many wonderful archaeological finds. I am fascinated by the freshness of the diver

  • Good museum. Just strange work time.
  • The archeological complex at Paestum is on my list of "must sees" near the Amalfi Coast. It is worth hiring a driver to get there, or to drive. There are temples and buildings built at various times. The archeological museum has some marvelous artifacts, most notably the Diver. There are some vases as well as the honey that they contained. Worth many hours of wandering. Be careful, the woman dressed in a toga wants money to have her photo taken.
  • amazing! well worth a visit, highly recommended
  • Show! Not only worth going, I'd say mandatory to go. Cleanliness, order and respect for the works of art. Also the prices are adequate.

  • Very beautiful temples, nice Museum. Focuses all in Pompeii, but minor archaeological sites like this and the villas of stabia are high, very high standard. Paestum is worth a visit, no less, and launch a provocation, but are preserved and presented the archaeological remains, in some ways even better than the Acropolis!
