Ragione Palace, Padua

(4.5/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web)
Supported by stories of arches, the medieval town hall of Ragione Palace contains one of the largest roofs unsupported by columns in Europe. Finished in 1219, the building contains 333 panels and three tiers of frescoes. The building also contains the Stone of Shame, where debtors were made to stand in their underwear and hit their bottom three times. There's also a wooden horse statue carved by Annibale Capodilista to be used in jousts. After admiring the impressive building and its art, visit several floors of food stalls within, as well as the food markets flanking the building outside. • Fine example of Palladian architecture in the city centre, Palazzo della Ragione often hosts interesting exhibitions

  • What about ... excelled. As soon as you enter the Hall the Majesty and grandeur of the place they will leave you enchanted and almost ignores the wooden horse place at the back of the room that is the magnificenza.....la description does not do righteous judgment to the place, so it's worth a visit.

  • in the Centre of padova and free with the padovacard. worth a visit just for the Majesty of the wooden horse inside, very nice and well kept the frescoes are stunning. Do not forget to note the ancient white stone carved ration cards measures which lie outside on piazza delle erbe. I really enjoyed the column guides located on several sides of the Salon for ease of use and the description and sound report.

  • Unique and beautiful monument to civic power and institutions in the Renaissance.
  • The Palazzo della Ragione, also known as the Palladian Basilica, in honor of Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, who designed around the existing building the famous lodges
  • Great hall! The entrance is very cheap.
  • It's just a old building shopping area
  • Impressive Palace on top of this, why not eat some fresh fruits from the nearby market?
