Prato della Valle, Padua
Take a breather from your tour of the city and watch the world go by at Prato della Valle, a 90 sq m (969 sq ft) elliptical square, the largest such public space in the country and one of the biggest in Europe. The square was built in 1775 on the site of what used to be a theater and fairground. The present layout includes a large central grassy area, which is surrounded by a statue-lined canal and a broad expanse of flagstones. On the weekends the square is the site of a popular market, but on all other days this space attracts joggers, cyclers, rollerbladers, and passing tourists stopping by for a quick rest and a few snapshots. The square is said to be at its most photogenic in the evening. Prato della Valle is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Padua Edition.

Very close by is the convenient and large car park, even for campers.
Jolie place où l'on peut se promener à l'ombre des statues de personnages célèbres. Promenade bien sympathique dans la belle ville de Padoue more »Nice place where you can walk in the shade of statues of famous characters. Nice walk in the beautiful city of Padua
È esattamente come il titolo, molto grande e curato molto bene dai padovani e turisti, molto suggestiva sia di notte che di giorno. more »It is exactly like the title, very large and very well cared for by the padovans and tourists, very suggestive both at night and in the daytime.
Beautiful big square. His beauty spoils street market with big trucks placed around. It's prettier at night and on Sunday when there is no market.
A unique square that's someone new in this town should not miss. Locals come here to mingle with friends especially in the after noon and early evening. Also a place to burn calories by jogging, brisk-walking, and skating. not to forget socializing your pet doggies!😊
Calm and peaceful place for evening walks. Too much asphalt to green ratio (-1star). Another -1 star for huge ad visible from whole square which is illuminated with very bright light. It should be prohibited because it pollutes very nice view.
Wonderful as usual! Going early is best thing to do as it can get really crowded!!!!! It's a big Saturday market where you can buy fruit and vegetables, clothes, shoes and bags, house hold items, plants and flowers and so on! It's in Prato della Valle, a huge historical square one of the biggest squares in Europe! Near to Sant'Antonio's basilica!
River always a little bit polluted, but it's nice to stay there with some friends or alone and be peaceful, relaxing your mind. It's also near to some of the most used bus lanes, like 11, 12, M, 13, 16, 3, 22 and many others.
