See Donatello's famous equestrian statue of Erasmo da Narni, considered one of the greatest examples of Italian Renaissance sculpture, at Basilica of St. Anthony. In the historic city of Padua, the church hosts thousands of visitors each year who come to pray at the tomb of St. Anthony or to admire the 15th-century artwork and decor. The church combines Byzantine, Romanesque, and Gothic architecture. Wander the interior to see the grand marble reliefs and frescoes on the church walls. Masses are held frequently at this popular pilgrimage site, so you can attend a service if you like. This is one of the most beautiful, eclectic and unusual churches I have ever visited. Colourful, rich in decoration, history, beautifully moving and I am not even catholic! A MUST SEE! The colourful altars, the reliquary, St. Anthony’s tomb and the cloistered gardens... just stunning beauty. We spent hours studying all the amazing art, sculptures and details.
I had wonderful relaxing time here. This church is really big, with beautiful designs inside. It's a free entrance. So, you can enter and relax however longer you need to. Recommended, if in the town !!!
I was named after this Famous Saint and my Moms favourite. Never in my wildest dream that one day I will see this place. Such a blessed Sunday.
Beautiful interior, well maintained (unlike lots of other churches in the region) and if you spend a bit of time reading about the history and art of the Basilica this is a very enjoyable visit. It is worth spending time exploring the interior as there are a number of small alcoves and exhibits worth seeing. No entrance fee (just donation boxes).
One of the nicest churches I have seen, it has various sections that was added to the original structure. The main tained windows & the ceiling design is magnificent. There is a dedicated section for St. Anthony prayers and request.
