Walk from the square up and down streets and alleys, streets and houses were renovated with much taste, flowers on all Windows, grandparents on the doors to chat, in short, a typical village in the Central abruzzo region, in friendly and sociable. We are one of the things to visit:-Giacomo Caldora Castle, built in the 11th century and later for defense against invasion by the Saracens who came downtown abruzzo, under Giacomo Caldora, Pacentro crossed a shining period and flourishing, too bad the end sided with the Aragonese, who were defeated by the Angevins and the were all goods requirements to Giacomo Caldora. He recruited the commoners for the army of mercenaries, letting them run barefoot on the mountain, leaving the sacred history of the Gypsy race which is held on the first Sunday of September each year, the young and the young at heart will be challenged by climbing the Hill Ardinghi before easing up to the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, where waiting for them nurses and Red Cross nurses for dressings. The medieval castle is made up of three square towers of century XIV to quadrangle, surrounded by a moat with three towers in the outer wall, all for the defense of the assailants (Saracens) of course is that the location is beautiful and scenic. Before being bought by the fine arts the castle had as last owner Maffeo Barberini who bought it in its time by the Kingdom of Naples in 1664. -We went to visit the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore: aisles and octagonal pillars with two beautiful altars of 1500/600, with the belfry adorned by large bifere. -the 16th-century Franciscan convent, admire the Baroque source located in the main square. In half an hour by car, you get to Passo San Leonardo, small ski resort, where to take the kids to familiarize yourself with the snow, or where to start to make beautiful excursions in the mountains (Morrone and Maiella). Pacentro was the beginning of the 20th century a strong emigration and in 1919, emigrated also grandparents of Madonna (Ciccone) in the USA, the famous international singer coming to Italy several times has never deigned to visit your beautiful country, got lost a unique spectacle. And finally from the square with my wife Luciana we sat in the restaurant de li Caldora, something from science fiction, no critical and/or gourmet may describe the authenticity of what you can enjoy typical local products, all of the mountains of Abruzzo: ricotta, pluck, lamb, and what about taste of ricotta and wild boar prosciutto, gnocchi "sagnette , leg of lamb marinated and grilled goat ricotta ravioli past, strips of fried lamb, basically everything that mountainous Abruzzo you can ask and find. We left satisfied and satiated Parisa Caldora and chef of Italy among the most beautiful in Italy. You have nothing to lose, we can also make comparisons with the beautiful Venzone del F.V.G., now a national monument, then don't forget to visit this beautiful country called medieval Pacentro perched on the mountain overlooking the Valley and from where in time came the Saracens.
