Cape Palascìa, commonly known as Capo d'Otranto, is Italy's most easterly point. It is situated in the territory of the Apulian city of Otranto, in the Province of Lecce at 40° 7' northing and 18° 31' easting.The lighthouse there was built in 1867 and abandoned in the 1970s but and reopened to tourists in 2008, where it hosts the Centre on Environment and Health of the Mediterranean ecosystems and a multimedia museum of the sea. It is one of five Mediterranean lighthouses protected by the European Commission. They say we see the shores of the Balkans when time and sharp, I couldn't do it. Worth a stop.show original
vale la pena fare una passeggiata verso il faro per poter apprezzare il lungomare, parte del castello e parte della vecchia otranto, posto molto carino.It's well worth a stroll towards the lighthouse in order to enjoy the waterfront, part of the Castle and part of vecchia otranto, cute place.show original

You can park just in front of a military base and from there continue along a path that, in about 15 minutes, leads to the lighthouse of Punta Palascìa, which is much lower than the parking area. The place definitely deserves, even if left without care. The Museum of the sea, which should be in the Lighthouse is closed and the restaurant also. Advice to stop for about an hour or so, don't expect though tourist facilities.show original
