  • I visited the archaeological site along with my wife on 1 may, it was an experience that I recommend to everyone. A cultural moment between the Roman ruins, in complete tranquillity. A visit without a guide, which lasts at least two hours, walking out of old stones that make the terrain, better wear comfortable shoes. Absolutely worth the money. Ticket 8 euros per person.

  • Probably the biggest and most complete Roman urban dig site beautiful site should take advantage of one of the many guided tours that are cheap on the net on the first Sunday of the month when you don't pay the entrance ticket in not We got a chance to make one arranged directly on site even privately visit (accompanied, not guided) to the houses painted by booking in advance by mail, on Sundays only-I am glad that finally the address mail-official website-was exchanged in that exact

  • For us this was a very spontaneous trip, and well worth it. Even through the weather was bad and it was raining heavily at times, it didn't take anything from the experience. Strolling along the stree...  more »

  • An awesome historical place to visit. I found it to be a quiet escape from Rome. Like a lot of places, it is open for free on the first Sunday of every month. I especially liked that their were just suggested itineraries, which left you free to wander. The ruins leave an impression because of how well they are preserved, and the beauty of the sculptures. I spent 2-3 hours here, and only left when they started closing the park.
  • We are in love with this place. Amazing ruins and stories to explore.... less crowded with amazing history. Well worth the trip when visiting Rome.
  • Huge site with an incredible amount of ruins. Most of these you are able to walk through. A lot of mosaic floors/walkways in excellent condition. Admission was 8€. If you arrive on the light rail don't continue on the Google maps directions. Take the footbridge over the road and follow the signs. The entrance at the NE end of the site is only 5 minutes away (Following G maps is a 21 minute walk around the site to the SW. I'm not even sure there is an entrance there but either way you don't want to go that way). Once inside don't spend too much time until you get to the theater. The area from the theater and South has so much to see! I was there almost 3 hours and only left because it was closing time. It's sprawling. PS... Though entrance and parking may be technically handicapped accessable, this site has irregular terrain and requires good mobility to view.
  • If you have a couple of days in Rome, than the 20 minute train ride to Ostia Antica is definitely worth it. Like in Pompeii, you get a really good impression of the everyday life in ancient Rome. Get your ticket online to skip the line!
  • Great place to get a better grasp about the life of people during a Roman Empire times. Reserve a whole day to see it all as it is huge. Get the audio guide as there are not too many signs that explain what you see and it allows you to explore side streets and hidden temples. Gem accessible by subway system but far enough from Rome tourist crowds. Great dinner options also available closer to the center of the town.
