  • In these places even historians as a boy you venture goes to this channel with the Motocross bike between mud and water fields. Lush vegetation and many places to stop for a spritz boiled eggs and salami now you will find taverns where the wines of Collio. Interesting.

  • I really appreciate the post from a10ns0 that explains the story in an exemplary way. I have grandparents of Lucinico, absurd battles were fought in these lands, the cross atop Mount's symbol. The Valley then it is nice to visit with his two streams, the locals eat bread and salami, motocross tracks and fall for mushrooms and chestnuts.

  • Sorry to see that in no reviews yet you have beckoning to this real representation of the great war 1915-1918. For over a year, the Calvary (Podgora) in contention for Gorizia was defended stoutly by Austro-Hungarian bridgehead and in opposition to Italian troops contenders, with significant human losses were engaged in the conquest of the same ... ... .... 14 months of bloody battles for our troops to reach the grueling final conquest of this Hill (peak) of the city of Gorizia. Numerous, interesting and chilling history pages made of blood and death were imprinted on paper by our infantry, I can confirm that a cold shudder ran along my back in retrace on foot and mind these places despite having spent a century by the great war. Along the narrow street below the mountain that leads to the top of the Hill for a distance of approximately two kilometres: the cippo dedicated volunteers Giuliani, traces of the various trenches dug partially into the rock by the military, others set up coarsely with gravel and cement, the only fortification with access by road was constructed from 24° Department Diggers in 1916 ... ... for the Hill 2° e 3° Btg. Carabinieri Reali commemorative Obelisk, 240 share in representation of various l.m. divisions here clashed with the enemy ... a little more behind the monument the tiny clearing leading to three crosses which so wants to mean. Along the tree-lined path, (vegetation allowing!!) a breathtaking view over the city of Gorizia, on another side of the Monte Sabotino, Monte San Gabriele, the Isonzo (sacred river to the homeland), further South, the Monte San Michele, images that make us realize how important to the invader the dominant strategic position of Monte Calvario ... ... .... For history buffs, it's really worth to retrace these sacred places 61paolo61
