  • In these historical places you go boy go for this channel with the bike between mud and water fields. Lush vegetation and many places to stop for a spritz hard-boiled eggs and salami trattorias are Now producers of Collio wines. Interesting.

  • I really appreciate the post from a10ns0 that explains the story in an exemplary manner. I have grandparents of Lucinico, land battles were fought, the cross atop Mount's symbol. The Valley then it's nice to visit with his two streams, the locals eat bread and salami, motocross tracks and fall for mushrooms and chestnuts.

  • Sorry to see that no review has yet mentioned this real representation of the great war 1915-1918. For over a year, the Calvary (Podgora) in contention for Gorizia was staunchly defended by Austro-Hungarian bridgehead and opposed by Italian troops, which contenders with significant human losses were engaged in the conquest of ... ... .... 14 months of bloody battles for our troops to reach the grueling final conquest of this Hill (peak) of the city of Gorizia. Numerous, interesting and chilling history pages made of blood and death were impressed by our paper booby jacks, I can confirm that a cold shudder ran along my back in to feet and mind these places despite a century has elapsed since the great war. Along the road that leads to mount below the top of the Hill for a distance of approximately two kilometres: the cippo dedicated volunteers Giuliani, traces of various trenches dug into the rock in part by the military, equipped with additional coarsely gravel and cement, the only fortification with access by road was constructed from 24° Diggers Department in 1916 ... ... on 2° e 3° Btg. Reali Carabinieri , 240 share the Obelisk to l.m. celebrative representation of various divisions that have clashed with the enemy ... ... a little more behind the monument the tiny clearing leading to three crosses which so wants to mean. Along the tree-lined path, (vegetation allowing!!) a breathtaking view over the city of Gorizia, on another side mount Sabotino, Monte San Gabriele, the Isonzo (sacred river to the homeland), further South on Monte San Michele, pictures that make us realize how important it was for the invader the dominant strategic position of Monte Calvario ... ... .... For history lovers, it's really worth going over these sacred places 61paolo61
