Duomo di Orvieto, Orvieto

4.7
Discover one of the finest examples of Italian-Gothic architecture at Duomo di Orvieto. In the hilltop town of Orvieto, the 13th-century cathedral features a dominating front facade of golden mosaics, three bronze doors, and a large rose window. Tour the interior to admire two frescoed chapels that are said to have influenced Michelangelo's painting of the Sistine Chapel. • External and internal wonderful. A treasure the main façade and the chapels of San Brizio and Corporale. Important is to visit this treasure with a lot of calm in order to make the most possible.

  • I think that Word to define this harmonious Cathedral. These cities of Umbria were real paisitos in themselves. Everything should be in the city including a magnificent but provided Cathedral. Known that outside is more interesting.

  • A large church, inside works of inestimable value. Unfortunately people should remember that you are in a place of worship, and not at the Mall. Recommended visit.

  • This cathedral is just like my ex: beautiful on the outside, but cold and ugly on the inside. Amazing Gothic facade, a really beautiful style of building! The inside is empty. You have to pay €4 to see it, you're not allowed to take photos, the personel aren't friendly, and the church offers nothing spectacular on the inside. Pro tip, go in the entrance and take a quick peek of the interior. You can decide for yourself if the vast empty space is worth your money.
  • One of my favourite place in Umbria. If you are curious and love art, architecture, story, religion, you want to see something special, in my opinion that's a perfect place. This chatedral is the heart of Orvieto. During the weekend or holidays is too busy and maybe you have to wait a little queue but it is a marvel to visit.
  • Italian hill top towns are now peaceful, great food and architecture, lots of history and in summer there is always a festival.....in former times the hill top was the safest place to be....
  • For someone that doesn’t do the whole church thing this one blew my socks off. Amazing!
  • Very original and impressive Gothic cathedral. A must do. Entrance fee was 4 euros per person.
