Discover one of the finest examples of Italian-Gothic architecture at Duomo di Orvieto. In the hilltop town of Orvieto, the 13th-century cathedral features a dominating front facade of golden mosaics, three bronze doors, and a large rose window. Tour the interior to admire two frescoed chapels that are said to have influenced Michelangelo's painting of the Sistine Chapel. We had a stop in orvieto to watch this magnificent duomo, on our way to France. Unfortunately it was closed. Orvieto deserves more time to be watched, we will come back more »

The beauty of the art inside this cathedral is truly amazing, in a wonderful Etruscan hill town. This is definitely worth the time spent. more »

This is a wonderful place to visit on your Italy trip.It makes for a relatively restful day in a smaller town which dates back to Etruscan times. The cathedral itself is beautiful and impressive and sets the atmosphere for the rest of this quaint Village on a Hilltop. My 26 year old son enjoyed this town more than Rome, Florence, and Venice. The train stops here on its way from Rome to Florence so it is a convenient place to stop in to relax for a day. There are a lot of handcrafted pieces for sale in cute little shops and delicious food is available. Highly recommended.!!

Orvieto is situated at hillside. Wonderful town with a brilliant cathedral from medieval ages. It is really colorful. It stands on a square in the heart of old town. Beautiful exterior and breathtaking interior. Don't miss its chapel with extraordinary frescoes.

Orvieto is a beautiful medieval city almost intact on its architecture. It is wonderful to wonder in very narrow streets and stop on small shops or sidewalk cafes to suddenly arrive to the Duomo and be stunned buy its magnificence. The ticket is 4 Euros but with just one Euro more you have access to two other museums. Highly recommended to visit.

Most impressive duomo of the region! Side entrance for wheelchairs. Impressive fresco's. Read about the cathedral before you enter. It's worthwhile a visit. We had live piano music outside when visiting...
-
