(1,400+ reviews on the web)
Water Body
Lake Orta is dotted with romantic buildings that are reflected in the water. The lake's cool, clean waters are likely what's left of a retreating glacier. Walk along the lake's shores and find activities both on and off the water. Travel to the southern or northern end of the lake by train. You can stay in hotels in either area. • I visited Orta and the island SanGiulio which is located near to the village. Boats depart every 15 minutes (price e. 4.50 return and the island turns into 10 min + visiting Church). The island makes the fairytale scenery and the best view you can find if you climb the sacred mountain (which has a path through the woods with 20 chapels dedicated to St Francis). Orta you visit in one day, no more and is among the most beautiful villages of Italy. Has many shops and the Center is at the bottom (p.zza Motta) while parking fees are at the end of via Panoramica. Recommended visit-max 1gg

  • If you are looking for peace, quiet, good food and Lake, then you must go to the island of San Giulio D'Orta. A piece of paradise surrounded by a beautiful Lake. It is a trip that takes no more than half a day but if you manage to avoid the days where everybody goes, the island can reveal truly an enchanted place. The day that I was, in the Church in front of the dock, there were also some evidence of a lyric tenor singing (I think it was Asian) very good. That makes you shudder. Highly recommended destination!
