  • The crypt of mummies is one of the most beautiful places in the entire city. The story behind the mummies is very interesting and we descend into the crypt with a guide, divided into small groups. Advice to the curious and lovers of mystery. I also recommend to cover, because the air is quite humid crypt

  • The Guide (the one we had was amazingly competent) presented a story that flows into the legend and allows you to fully understand the medieval roots of this amazing little town. Under the Cathedral lies a crypt that hides numerous skulls and mummified bodies of persons belonging to an ancient Brotherhood (of death), born at the time of taking of Otranto by the Saracens. Place not too suitable for younger children, although our have not had any trauma.

  • In the Cathedral of Oria there is a place unknown to many, that aura of mystery and mysticism that has always enshrouded the basilicas and churches in the world. With summer, returning again in his beloved Apulia, I decided to visit with their families and intrigued by a Mystery TV transmission service a couple of years ago, I reviewed recently. Low cost of entry there is a guided well detailed and presented to the Cathedral, of the underground hypogeum and precisely of the crypt. Between history and legends passed down, I highly recommend a visit to the entire site, a way to know yet another treasure of our fantastic and unique artistic, archaeological and cultural heritage of our beautiful Italy. N.B. Even for the younger "brave" ... the crypt, although illuminated might scare; the location, the look almost alive of the Mummies and the site certainly evoke images of horror films.
