  • I spent the morning of 25 April in the archaeological site of the Roman city of Herdonia, the current Ordona. As a history buff and photography was very satisfied. It was easy to get there but unfortunately there are no facilities like Bar, bathrooms for visitors near the site. Anyway it was a good experience, and then ... ... walking on the Via Traiana ... ... go where it was Hannibal .... touch the history ... really nice experience. Foggia has a province rich in history ... Lucera, Troia, Herdonia, Newtown and so many places where you can feel the history. As in Lucera, even at Herdonia touches history with your hands.

  • A place to promote and protect at the same time. This important centre dauno and later Roman city, has been the subject of numerous excavations from Belgian team headed by Prof. J. Mertens from 1962. Today you can admire the ruins of the Forum and of important buildings such as the Basilica, the baths, the Macellum and some sections of the old Roman road: the Via Traiana, built by Emperor Trajan in 109 a.d. to connect Benevento to Brindisi, as an alternative to the Via Appia, quickly became the most important road crossing of Puglia FOLLOW US on FACEBOOK

  • The city is small but well kept, a book of Archeology opened in front of you. You can hit the walls and walking on the via traiana, which was born in Rome and ends at Egnazia, another Roman town on the coast near Fasano. On top of columns of seven meters there were capitals so majestic and impressive that dizzy now that are at your fingertips. Hannibal took it shortly before the battle of Cannae, which is a few km. Well worth a trip.

  • Beautiful but completely isolated and abandoned. a real shame. To enter in the excavations it is necessary to enter into a private garden and across a private property. There is no adequate signage and archaeological remains sleep left to fend of all ... too bad because the site is interesting and beautiful.

  • Almost ready for takeoff, with the transition from the last heir of Cacciaguerra to the municipality of Ordona, the recent opening of the Archaeological Museum of Herdonia and the coming implementation of the archaeological site of Herdonia, will ensure the birth and the tourist boom of the "Pompeii", the great Herdonia (Ordona).

  • A place to be valued!

  • Very interesting site, cared little but potentially extraordinary to the historical events of the Punic Wars and the roads lining the Roman city.
