  • With a navigation system it's easy to find, but a rusty sign that you will need your feet, say enough about this site. Wire-netting around, signs which have no more information, you will enter a chaot...  more »
  • I spent the morning of 25 April in the archaeological site of the Roman city of Herdonia, the current Ordona. As a history buff and photography was very satisfied. It was easy to get there but unfortunately there are no facilities like Bar, bathrooms for visitors near the site. Anyway it was a good experience, and then ... ... walking on the Via Traiana ... ... go where it was Hannibal .... touch the history ... really nice experience. Foggia has a province rich in history ... Lucera, Troia, Herdonia, Newtown and so many places where you can feel the history. As in Lucera, even at Herdonia touches history with your hands.

  • A place to promote and protect at the same time. This important centre dauno and later Roman city, has been the subject of numerous excavations from Belgian team headed by Prof. J. Mertens from 1962. Today you can admire the ruins of the Forum and of important buildings such as the Basilica, the baths, the Macellum and some sections of the old Roman road: the Via Traiana, built by Emperor Trajan in 109 a.d. to connect Benevento to Brindisi, as an alternative to the Via Appia, quickly became the most important road crossing of Puglia FOLLOW US on FACEBOOK

  • Very interesting site, cared little but potentially extraordinary to the historical events of the Punic Wars and the roads lining the Roman city.
