  • After a spectacular visit to the archaeological site of Faragola (which I strongly recommend visiting if you booked though the assistance of licensed Guide, archaeologist that demonstrate the best site for a figure really more than modica), not without some difficulty for waterways and having almost passed the site without proper signage for people coming from Faragola without having to Ordona , you arrive at this private farm of great beauty, immersed in an olive grove. The owner, a gentleman very kind from Northern inflection, tells us about conditions in which the site, now abandoned for years after being investigated for about 30 years by Belgian and Italian universities (in the 1990s). Herdonia is an important centre of dauni first and then a Roman municipality, hub of roads of main importance in Roman times (via Traiana, via Herdonitana, etc.). On the NET there are interesting getting started videos, simply by typing the name of the historical centre, and essential for those who have not a proper guide site, which now is in a sad state of neglect (unfortunately common to many Italian archaeological sites in so-called secondary) both for the Forum, which the adjacent one of Therma investigated more recently (and that was not accessible in safety). A pity, for what is termed, and potentially not unreasonably, the "little Pompeii dauna". Unique teaching aids, a couple of panels (with concise translation in English) well made, but far from the structures still visible. Of course the site is not supervised, and there is no infrastructure for visitors.

  • In a country as Sort should be valued more. Missing:-precise directions on how to reach the excavations and where to Park (upon a signpost in a lane of campaign indicates to walk inside a private property-a caretaker who supervise the area-a bar and toilet-a souvenir Nevertheless, it is worthwhile to spend a couple of hours

  • Hi all we visited the archaeological site of Ordona. beautiful site but unfortunately it is a little left to itself, anyone can access the site without controls, you can, if desired, remove archaeological finds in peace, sin.

  • Very interesting site, cared little but potentially extraordinary to the historical events of the Punic Wars and the roads lining the Roman city.
