  • The Egypt in Novara!? A symbol of eternity probably inspired the creation of the work. I confess to not knowing who has materially thought and created the monument, but I know the purpose: to remind (ossuary) the dead of "Piedmontese Army" at the battle of Bicocca. The 3/23/1849 the "remains" of our Army (already defeated in a previous battle) were concentrated in Novara to resist the invasion of Austria. It seems that, despite the presence on the ground of King Carlo Alberto, the command "mistakes" made in vain the heroic resistance of the Piedmontese fighters against overwhelming enemy forces. Due to the defeat the King abdicated in favor of his son Victor Emmanuel II, who signed the surrender. Every year at Novara is the "costumed reenactment" of what still was an act of heroic Valor. The building is enclosed in a small walled garden and well landscaped with flowering plants. Honestly to me made me think simple and unknown hero who sacrificed his life for our independence and the symbolism of the pyramid seems apt to remember for "Eternity". P.s. Close there is a pizza place where I ate, I don't think it merits a comment for me we are trivial level/minimum ...

  • One normally called "the pyramid" is an invaluable ossuary, where houses the mortal remains of the brave fighters died in the nearby battle of Bicocca. 1849 if I remember correctly.
