Lago di Carezza, Nova Levante

Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web
Nestled in a dense fir forest at the foot of the Latemar, Lago di Carezza is a small alpine lake known for its prismatic colors--in the Ladin language it's called lec de ergobando or “lake of the rainbow.” Fed entirely by springs and groundwater, the calm lake is an otherworldly aquamarine color and reflects the mountains above like a mirror. A path runs around the lake, offering hikes with amazing views of the emerald waters and the snowcapped mountains above. A bronze statue of Undine rests at the bottom, watching over the lake. • Actually to Karezza was one of the most beautiful lakes in the Alps, but looks more like a puddle full of green algae. Unfortunately the high temperatures and lack of snow have dried up this spectacle of nature. It was once frequented by few tourists: today it was fenced, with paid parking and the Mall! Maybe that's why he retired?

  • A beautiful alpine lake, emerald green color. Access with easy pay parking and tunnel to cross the highway. The pedestrian path has several interesting views, ideal for unusual photographs. The flaw is that everything is dedicated to de see but do not touch. It is not possible to overcome the barriers of the footpath, you can't get closer to the Lake, you cannot do anything except what is specifically allowed. Missing a green area (a meadow, a picnic area) near where you can simply stand. A similar area is a Caress (the Lake is called Caress but is located in the town) so it's not just in the immediate vicinity. Sight in crowded, better get there early in the morning.

  • Wonderful Alpine Lake which is located on the slopes of Latemar. Looks like an enchanted place ... the water from the many extensive colour palette ... trees that are reflected on the water ... we did the walk around the Lake and lots of great pictures.

  • Fantastico!!! Se passate dalle Dolomiti non dovete perdervelo...
  • Amazing place. Better visited in mid to end of the summer. It reminded me the Canadian Rockies. But the best it is easily accessible from Bolzano Italy or Innsbruck Austria.
  • Stunning lake with spectacular mountain scenery. Lovely walks as well. Beautiful.
  • Amazing glacial lake .. gorgeous aqua green color with the dolomites as it's backdrop! Small cafeteria. Free 15 min parking. Wc.
  • wonderful place that you must have seen in southtyrol.
