  • You can get there only if you are well determined to reach the place or by going to the archaeological site of Noto Antica. The surrounding nature is barren and rocky, but it revives approaching. The complex manifests itself suddenly and is impressive in its being an integral part of the rocks around. Most striking outside, but deserves deviation from the most classic routes around known.

  • Arriving at the sanctuary we enter the 18th century climate that characterizes the place. The Church is perched on a accessed by a steep stairway. Is a gem, but unfortunately not cared for at most about the restoration. If you are peering right, under the plaster there are old original frescoes. Be wrong, but over the centuries were covered by new masonry ...!!! Bad! Behind the altar, at the top, there is a fresco of the Madonna della Scala del Paradiso. From a careful analysis found that the pigments that make up the image are not natural. The image therefore is sacred. The statue of the Madonna is something indescribable ... really nice! Outside we descend into a quarry. Here we find a natural fountain ... the water is still pristine. A place to visit ... lovely.

  • Nestled in the woods of Iblei leading to ancient Noto, on the way to Palazzolo, stands the complex of the Episcopal Seminary, which incorporated this charming little sanctuary. The two entrance ramps give it a solemn air, made even more impressive by the silence of the place. Inside, apart from the altarpiece of the Madonna of the stairs from which the Church is named, there is-just behind the altar-the casket with the remains of San Fernandez martyr. Going to go to Noto Antica, well worth a visit.
