  • I arrived at the Calamosche entrance, and paid 3 Euros to park in the olive grove at the Calamosche agriturismo a short walk from the reserve entrance. I'm pleased to report that on the drive along.....  more »
  • You pay into this beach reserve, but you can see how well maintained it is. Perfect for a long walk along the coastline with the ruins of the fish factory making an interesting pitstop. Great...  more »

  • Beautiful place for novice exploring. Trails are all reasonably easy and can be done in simple trainers. Make sure to take binoculars to see the amazing array of birds and water as there is no place to buy from. If the wind is calm this place makes for the most beautiful sun set you will ever see as the sky and flying flocks of birds are perfectly mirrored in the still pools
  • Good parking lot (€3/car), a somewhat longer walk to the beach than expected (20+ min). Free entry to the beach. A natural beach, the only "infrastructure" was two guys selling towels and hats. Flat, sandy entry to the water, busy but not too full. Clean, both sand and sea. One of our favorite beach spots in Sicily!
  • Nature reserve where you can walk and see seabirds, flamingos, wild geese on the sandy beach, it is also next to archaeological remains of Greek ruins. a place where nature and history are the protagonists in the excursion through the most important reserve of Noto Overlooking the sichilli swamp.
  • Insofar that there exists a strip of the coast and it's environs relatively undisturbed by humans was worth the visit. Perhaps because it was Summer, it appeared much of the reserve was off limits, which was frustrating. We did visit a beach, the only area apparently open to the public. The way Italians interact with the beach is vastly different to a typical Australian. You don't expect bars or hawkers selling whatever and noise pollution is limited to certain areas. In this regard, the reserve was the most peaceful place I had visited in Sicily.
  • Be prepared to walk a long distance of 1km or more in the hot sun from the parking place. Yes or is great there but be prepared for a crowded beach so arrive in time if you want a spot near the water.
