  • Very nice to visit. Some parts were closed but most of the Tower visible. Few services beyond those of tour guide

  • Visited the National Archeological Museum in Viterbo-extremely interesting with artifacts and information dating from approximately 1200 BC to 800 AD. A number of sites that have been excavated reveal...  more »
  • After visiting the beautiful underground Narni wanted to see this rock ... thankfully we were advised that it was closed. thing that was not written anywhere, no warning anywhere ... shame! And to think that is closed from July ... at least a warning!

  • When we first visited this place i was surprised at how big it was because for some reason i expected it to be smaller. The castle is beautiful and you can get the taste of life by walking through it. In the end we had a fantastic experience when the people at the museum showed ys how medievil siege engines worked. We really liked the trebuchet firing water ballons in the valley below.
  • Beautiful. We got married here in 2010
  • Nice place to visit
  • Splendid example of 14th-century military architecture, which is about three hundred and thirty meters a.s.l. dominates strategically below the Black River Gorge, the town of Narni and generally the entire Terni basin. Construction work headed by architect specialist in strongholds, Matthew Ganesh Gattaponi (known as il Gattapone), which at the same time he directed il cantiere della Rocca Albornoz even of Spoleto; La rocca Narni has a quadrangular floor plan structure with towers-a square base-poste at the corners and protruding with respect to the wire of the external wall, so as to favour the sighting and attack by assailants in the stretch of wall between the towers. The sides of the Castle measure approximately 36 m.l. (equivalent to about 60 arms), while the male (the tallest Tower and mighty) has 12 sides m.l. (20 fathoms). A double wall and a moat completed the building's defence equipment.

  • The Albornoz fortress of Narni is a fortress located in the city, in Umbriameridionale. It was built in 1367 for defensive purposes by Cardinal Egidio Albornoz and in 332 meters above sea level, it dominates the town and the Valley of the Nera river by a favorable strategic position. Above, on the one hand, the Terni basin, being able to easily control the access roads to Perugia, Amelia Terni; on the other side faces towards NW, dominating the via Flaminia and the road to Orte and Lazio. This has, historically, the sentry to the South Gate of Umbria [1] [2]. Built according to very specific defensive schemes, protected by a sturdy walls and surrounded by a moat, endured many assaults, including that of Landsknechts returning from the sack of Rome in 1527, assisted by the militia of Terni, which instead conquered and ravaged the town of Narni. Under his command took turns various castellani and within its walls were hosted Popes as Boniface IX and Nicholas V [3]. After ups and downs and a general decay was bought and restored by the municipality of Narni and Terni that have restored to its former glory.
