  • Narni is poorly understood and poorly valued under the Umbrian tourism, and remains even without quality awards that can move any sort of interest: it is not Orange flag is not included among the most beautiful villages in Italy (because it is not a village: nearly 20,000 inhabitants, or more than Spello, Montefalco and Norcia put together, to speak), UNESCO's not even talking about it. Still, its historical centre is certainly no less interest compared to other locations in the region: medieval font developed in length around the packed tightly "progress" (but there is also the parallel and more secluded Via Gattamelata, and a detour to the sidebar Via del Campanile), has as its stylistic severe dark stone architecture, with buildings and mostly devoid of ornaments. Also, since it is not, in fact, a tiny village completely isolated and almost abandoned to itself, Narni show a certain liveliness and character animation-p, of course-that many similar locations don't have. Finally, Narni is not penalised by public transport like other Umbrian towns: has two railway stations on the Rome-Naples or Rome-Ancona, and descending in Narni/Amelia (the principal) you can reach the old town quite easily by bus, and maybe take a look at Amelia.

  • Rich in history, Narni is really fascinating. I absolutely recommend a visit to Narni underground, well maintained and supported by enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
