Large enough, but isn't a problem thanks to the good organization. Expensive prices, of course. But nice it enough, to withstand thousands of tourists daily.

We arrived at 9am and eventually found the Hertz office. The 2 young guys in there were super friendly and efficient, I didn't get their names but they directed us to Giovanni in parking who was also ...  more »

Guys, there are two ways to get from Naples to Sorrento by train. The first and cheapest tickets 3 euros per train, approx. 1:00, but then you find yourself in "the Indian province of" trains without air-conditioning and usually clogged completely. In the heat of the ride is simply impossible. The second way to buy a ticket for the express "Campania Express" price 7.5 euros one-way, but rides it 30 minutes and air conditioning. Makes three stops along the way. One of them is in Pompeii. When buying your ticket say immediately, ticket Express. The only minus is he not so often. Watch out for your belongings, especially hand bags. A lot of thieves at the station. Don't be burdock.

  • I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with Avis in Naples. The staff let us leave our bags for the afternoon so that we were free to explore the city before collecting the car. More importantly, the staff were very very friendly and took the time to explain everything very clearly in English. The car we were given was almost brand new (a Peugeot 208 rather than a Fiat Panda, which I was happy with as apparently Fiat's are frequently stolen in the area). Very quick drop off and fair assessment of the condition of car on arrival. My only comment would be that although the office is extremely well located if you are arriving by train, you will have to the confidence as a driver to get out of heart of Naples, which is as manic as you might expect. That said, even though it seems like chaos, the other drivers were in no way aggressive and with a decent GPS it shouldn't be much of a problem.
  • I reserved a BMW 2 series, and they give me a minivan. That was the only available option. Crowded and inefficient the day I was there. It was raining, and very little space for people to stand sheltered. Car was clean and in good condition though. This may be the norm in Naples, so I'm not sure if the other rental agencies would be much better.
  • We hired a car from Avis Noleggio Auto Napoli in May 2016. We’d booked it from Australia. No problem. Unfortunately we got a parking fine in Taormina costing 43 euros. They’re hard to avoid. On returning the car, we offered to pay the two women at Avis the fee as long as we got a receipt. They weren’t interested. So we waited in a post office near the railway station for two hours and paid it. In early Oct we got the first letter from Avis Naples demanding 43 euros which I queried. Then we got another letter demanding 43 euros. We found out today Avis has debited my partner’s Visa account. My advice is to take a long, hard look at comments on car hire blogs about hiring cars in Italy and especially in Naples. We will never hire another Avis car again.
  • After we were very rudely turned away by another car rental company, they were very nice and helpful at Avis, even apologies on the other lady's behalf, even if they were a different company. They deserve the five stars.
  • Tried to rent a car for a day on this store and the unfriendly attendant tried to push some extra charges on the car (more than doubling end price) and after being confronted so as to why would I have to pay for, for example, parking on a designated parking garage close to the office, she called me (in italian) stupid to the other attendant. What she didn't know is that my fiance speaks Italian... Poor, ridiculous behavior from someone who is supposed to be, at least, courteous with the client. I would give this place a round zero stars if it was possible.

Where to stay in Naples

Naples' lodging options include everything from turn-of-the-century historical mansions to hip boutique hotels. For a five-star experience in the heart of town, book a centrally located luxury hotel. Less expensive but just as comfortable, traditional inns just outside the central area offer peaceful comfort, private parking, and private outdoor space ideal for quiet dinners and small parties. If you are looking for a less urban experience and prefer to stay in a leafy neighborhood, consider the city's residential suburbs.
