Constructed in the 13th century as a defensive structure, Sant'Elmo commands an imposing view over Naples. You can see the city, Mt. Vesuvius, and, on a clear day, the island of Capri. Explore the ramparts of the castle, which are fine examples of Neapolitan military architecture. The complex also features a small museum. The hike up to the castle summit is steep and strenuous, but you can take a funicular instead. • Beautiful view and almost a secret, it seems! When we visited the Castle in the afternoon we went up by the public cog railway which is included in the artecard. The view is really stunning on a clear day and we had the castle almost to ourselves. One of our favorites in Napoli!!!
  • Amazing views. A must when soaking in Napoli. Great views of Vesuvius.
  • Great view of the city of Naples! You have to pay to enter but it isn't too expensive. The castle is pretty big, lots of open space and tall walkways to view many sides of the city.
  • Wonderful, historical, castle in Naples. thanks to its position, in the very nearby of San Martino, Castel Sant'Elmo has a wonderful views on the entire city of Naples and its astonishing gulf. If you are in Naples, you can even think to not visit it.
  • Amazing views of Naples, Vesuvius and the gulf from this hilltop castle, once the main prison of the town. Entrance €5 (€2.5 under 25). Take the funicular Morghen-Montesanto a then a quick walk to the site.
