  • The beautiful Palace can be reached from the port of Mergellina within a little more than 1 km or bus 140 to Posillipo. The unfinished building has the charm of an ancient ruin confused among the remains of Roman villas. The Interior is of considerable interest is the theatre, opened to the sea and where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama of the city. A legend, reported by Matilde Serao, tells of a ghost of the young and beautiful Mercedes de las Torres in a theatrical scene kissed the noble Gaetano di Casapenna, lover of the vicereine Anna Carafa. The young, grandson of noblewoman, disappeared mysteriously. Thus concludes the Saha: «those ghosts are those of lovers? Or divine, divine ghosts! Why can't we, like you, love me continual even after death? "

  • Also known as the "Palace of the siren", Palazzo Donn'Anna is one of the most mysterious and impressive of Naples. According to the stories of the time here Joan II of Anjou she used to meet her lovers and then launch them off the cliff. The building has had various owners: the Marquis Bonifacio Davidson, family Ravaschieri, il principe Luigi Carafa Of Stigliano. Among the many stories that revolve around the Palace is that of Mercedes, which he kissed publicly during a play, the lover of Anna Carafa of Stigliano, the noble Gaetano di Casapenna. From that day the young Gaetano Mercedes and you have not heard nothing: some shadows of star-crossed lovers continue to meet among the ruined walls of the building, which houses but now there are beautiful private homes.

  • You reach the harbour of Mergellina with a pleasant walk of just over 1 km (but you can also take bus 140 to Posillipo). The Sea Palace, commissioned in 1637 to the architect Cosimo Fanzago from Viceroy Ramiro Guzman for his wife Anna Carafa, was ever terminated for a variety of events, as well as not successful subsequent attempts of the centuries to come. Today the building is private (and inhabited in parts completed) and not open to the public, but it is worth coming here to enjoy the moment, suddenly, around a bend, the Palace will appear in all its grandeur and poignant beauty, with gaps of unfinished Windows, the warm color of the stone, the beach and the sea below.
