  • Close to major tourist destinations, but surely little known is the Diocesan Museum is unique in the panorama of the historical center of Naples. Here are the testimonies of the old convent and of the two original churches of Santa Maria di Donnaregina old and new, that medieval and 17th century, merged into a single structure. One enters the Church of Santa Maria di Donnaregina nuova. The Interior is bright, with the vault covered with frescoes and polychrome marble in the side chapels, which gives the collection a touch of refined elegance. In the presbytery, St. Francis and the miracle of the Roses by Solimena. On the sides of the altar two giant paintings of Luca Giordano. The exhibition also includes other important paintings, sculptures and jewellery, including the reliquary cross of St. leontius, filigree gold, gems and enamels-12th century. A guided tour will let you reach the old church, rebuilt in 1307 in Gothic style, thanks to the intervention of Mary of Hungary. Here is his tomb, with its harmonious work of Camaino. Interesting also the chapel Langley with a beautiful crucifixion and scenes from the life of St. Francis, the choir frescoes with scenes from the passion and the imposing wooden coffered with Judgement and the coronation of the Virgin. A very pleasant and relaxing place that should be more valued.

  • For me being born and grazed in Largo Donna Regina Vecchia, and which for decades has seen the monumental Church in disrepair, enter and see the great renovation, to transform it into a Museum, is cause for happiness. The Museum. In addition to artworks, already of the Church, it also hosts other from the Diocese of Naples. Especially it is worth visiting the old Donnaregina for decades closed to the public, with the remarkable tomb of Mary of Hungary and the wonderful fresco cycles covering the walls of the choir, by Pietro Cavallini and aid. Yet another jewel returned to the city. We are waiting for you.

  • Great collection of modern art, many video installations and photos. It was free for us but not sure if that's true every day. Nice cafe on one of the upper floors.
  • I have been there during the performance of "the Tableau Vivent". Interesting Museum, more beautiful the building itself and the beautiful representation. Unpleasant episode, I witnessed, of cronyism from the Manager, who, as if it were his personal property, chose, against every rule from all of us riapettata, to let Park momentarily in the churchyard and let their friends in the Church while it was still in place the previous representation of Tableau Vivent, making them sit in the front row and providing helpful brochures only to them to optimize the follow of the representation.

  • Marvellous Cathedral. Exhibition of paintings throughout much of the 600 Neapolitan. Sculptures and relics of the religious lived in Campania. To visit!

  • I already say there is a misdeal: the Museum of the diocese has nothing to do with the Madre, as I have read above! ((if they are close and as part of the same monumental complex in the neighborhood, they have different inputs and no access between them, they also have distinct functions. The diocese Museum houses a rich collection of paintings. We also visit the churches Donnaregina nuova and Donnaregina vecchia, the first baroque style, the second in the late Gothic style. See, the tomb of Queen Mary of Hungary.
