Gesu Nuovo Church, Naples

(4.8/5 based on 1,700+ reviews on the web)
Discover the hidden wonders of Gesu Nuovo Church, a 16th-century church. Its somewhat plain exterior belies the interior's grand architecture and art collection. Look for Francesco Solimena's masterpiece painting, "The Expulsion of Heliodorus from the Temple." For some local history, visit the small chapel dedicated to St. Joseph Moscati (1880–1927), a biochemistry teacher at the University of Naples and head physician of the Hospital of the Incurables. You can admire his statue and study the depiction of his medical activities on a triptych sculptured urn. • When you enter you will certainly impressed by the beauty and architecture of this church. I didn't know you were the remains of Saint Joseph Moscati and remains also very impressed with the Museum section at you hear ... Then is the Church where the Loren and Mastroianni are combined in "marriage Italian style" movie best known as the film version of Filumena Marturano ... This also increases the interest and charm of this sacred place.

  • from the outside it doesn't hit you for nothing because it has this structure without grace, would call it cement. the beauty is on the inside. There is also the home of Saint Joseph Moscati

  • Is a church something atypical by its facade (quite dirty and careless). As in the great majority of churches of Italy not there that pay by enter.

  • Lovely place and amazing arts! Thanks, new Jesus!
  • You could sit there for hours and try not to look at the same detail twice ... and succeed...easily!
  • This church contains fantastic architecture as well as both ceiling and wall paintings.
  • The opulent interior offers quiet from the busy street outside
  • One of the most beautiful church of the city. Rich of details but not tiring. Located in one of the most populated areas of Napoli. The outside reproduces (somehow) an hidden stave !
