Galleria Borbonica, Naples

(4.8/5 based on 5,000+ reviews on the web)
Walk the underground tunnels at Galleria Borbonica, which that once connected a royal palace to army barracks and served as a bomb shelter during World War II. In the 16th century, 300 years before Bourbon king Ferdinand II decided to build a military underground passage, the tunnel housed water tanks for the city. You can still see the tanks, along with vintage cars, motorcycles, and fascist statues that were thrown away. One of the three available tours includes a raft ride in an abandoned subway tunnel filled with water. To visit Galleria Borbonica on your trip to Naples, use our Naples vacation planner.

  • If we didn't have a guide maybe there'd never arrived, because you go through the houses of the Sanità district and seems to never arrive. The façade of the Church, all colored, do not imagine what is inside. Let them tell the story of those skulls ... why some are inside the boxes, or the story of Captain, you'll be fascinated!

  • Accompanied by a very passionate woman, Valentina, I my family and friends, around 4 adults and 4 kids we participated in the guided tour. I recommend it to everyone! I was afraid the dimly lit tunnels and claustrophobic, then stretti...ma the narrowest part is a ladder but is lit and practicable with backpackers and umbrella, and children held hands! Then you get underground in very large spaces and enlightened and is kidnapped by the charm of tales of driving and fear of being so underground you don't think anymore! We were all enchanted by the 8 mega job done in these places by volunteers and we are grateful! I hope that you will visit these places not to forget the horror of war and to get to know our beautiful Italy and its people!

  • A fascinating entry to the Napoli cult of the dead. It's quite a walk, but old ladies show you the way without even asking. The stuff of nightmares.  more »

  • Spectacular place, I've been there at least five times because it's so amazing. I've done both the historic and the adventure route. I suggest you this last one as you go on a raft for a bit and get to really cool places that you would never imagine. Also when I did the adventure route they gave me a free ticket for the historic / standard one. Definitely a must-do in Naples.
  • We did the speleo tour and it was amazing! We all felt like Indiana Jones exploring the tunnels. It was informative and fun. Thank you to Anne for organizing this awesome tour, and to our tour guides Marco, Mauro and Mario. Such a wonderful experience and staff!
  • This place takes a very different approach to the Neapolitan underground than Napoli Sotterranea. Definitely also worth a visit.
  • One of the coolest things I did while visiting Naples, our tour guide Assunta was very friendly and provided interesting information about all the history of the tunnels
  • Exceptionally knowledgeable staff and great attraction. Recommended.
