  • Another treasure of our beautiful Naples dates back to around 1500, finally after having heard I can examine, is one of the most important of Naples, located near largo San Marcellino, already from the outside makes you run out of words for its beauty, upon entering I am greeted by Mr. Enrico Touring Club volunteer professional and that gives me all the info for a free visit, the frescoes seem almost real, the thing that struck me most was the vestry floor really noteworthy Perhaps they drew pictures of the famous Neapolitan cards, I also know that inside there is also home to the State Archives of Naples and three cloisters that can be visited during the opening hours. Will definitely go again and recommend a visit to all

  • The Church of Saints Severino and Sossio is located near San Marcellin in Naples and is open on selected days thanks to the work of volunteers who are always ready to welcome tourists and to raise awareness of the site. For me it was a wonderful discovery randomly and I'm really happy. I highly recommend a visit of the place

  • Today we went to visit the monumental complex of San Sossio and San Severino and the State archives with a talented Guide. The tour was organized by TCI in Naples. Actually it's "monumental" which historically were one reality of the Benedictine monks. The history of this "complex" is very interesting and I recommend to visit with a good guide.

  • Excellent church with splendid tombs of Sanseverino family and other local aristocracy. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light.
  • Extraordinary interior with an interesting array of artworks and sculpture, including the Sanseverino Chapel by Giovanni da Nola. Artworks by such masters as Marco Pino, Cosimo Fanzago and Francesco de Mura are housed within an architecturally unique setting. Make sure to visit the Sacristy and cloisters.
  • Hreat food
  • One of the most beautiful churches in Naples (city not sparing of extraordinary churches). Unfortunately it is also a case in point the State of monuments in Italy, because unfortunately it is closed and badly reduced and visits can be made only during the weekend thanks to the brave volunteers of Touring. Once the upper Church of the convent that is now the State archives. Highly recommended the proposed itinerary from Touring that lets you see everything.

  • The Church, located across from the State archives, takes its name from Saint Severinus, whose body was carried inside in 902, and from San Sossio martyr, whose body was brought inside in 904. In 1494 with funding by King Alfonso of Aragon was built the homonymous monastery with the new church was completed in 1571. The Church was restored for the first time in the 18th century after the damages suffered from two earthquakes. In 1799 the monastery was suppressed by King Ferdinand IV of Bourbon, and was used as a depot for the troops of Cardinal Ruffo. The monastery became for a short while even House, only to be returned by Decree again to the Benedictine monks in 1804. The Benedictine monastic order was abolished by Decree from Joseph Bonaparte in 1807, and in 1835 was transferred to the monastery the State archives, with Superintendent from 1882 to 1889 the great Neapolitan Bartolommeo Callahan, to where they are today dedicated the road adjacent to the Church and a cloister inside. With the Kingdom of Italy was abolished religious orders, and the monks also lost the cloister del Platano. Inside the monastery there are four cloisters: the cloister of the novitiate or to Callahan, and the famous cloister del Platano, both of the fifteenth century, the cloister of marble made in the sixteenth century, and the entrance cloister, built in the XVII century.
