  • Beautiful, the Basilica of San Paolo Maggiore, shrine full of ornaments and paintings from the Neapolitan school

  • Originally in place of the basilica stood the Temple of Castor and Pollux, which later collapsed due to an earthquake destroyed part of the façade, the triangular pediment with statues on top and four of the eight Corinthian columns (today there are only two). An ancient story tells that the well located in the cloister of the Basilica menasse cooler water of the entire city, for this the people flocked from all over to drink it and help it provided (but this is just a story there is no basis in reality). What matters is the beauty of this Basilica which captures and disrupts the visitor lot is impressive and wonderful. The Basilica is not always open, but worth going to.

  • In San Paolo Maggiore definitely intrigued by the chapel of purity. In this place there is a wooden round widespread in churches of the fathers Teatini, built in the seventeenth century, a bit throughout southern Italy. The work, replaced by a photographic image, was created by Spanish artist Luis de Morales said "the divine". Iconographic traits are of value and wonderful. In the heart of Naples is Greek for me was an unexpected discovery. Our Lady, from the stately countenance, is able to capture the look of anyone to transmit its purity. Striking, then, of course, those who have faith and those seeking similar works to deepen their knowledge. Other works of this kind are preserved in Campania, Lazio and Sicily. A wooden table, in many ways priceless, is preserved in the Baptist Church of Colletorto.

  • Grandioso
  • The area on which the basilica was the center of civil and religious life of the Greek-Roman Naples, home of the Agora and the Roman Forum before then. The original building has been continuously transformed without ever being scrapped completely. The Interior has three naves with transept and apse, has a veritable compendium of Neapolitan figurative art between ' 600 and ' 700.
