Walls of Monteriggioni, Monteriggioni

(4.3/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
Walls of Monteriggioni is a fine example of a medieval walled town. Explore the village's central Piazza Roma and side streets to find hidden gardens and courtyards. Marvel at the 570 m (1,870 ft) of thick stone walls surrounding the town and the 14 towers punctuating the skyline. These were designed to protect the city from Florence's armies. Climb the barricades--nearly untouched since their construction in the early 13th century--for views of farmland and the city. Ask at the tourism center about guided tours of the city and the walls. • You get a ride on the walls but only for a very small section of them. Undoubtedly the country charm seen from above there is everything but the total viable walls does not exceed 100 m. The wall is still well preserved and represents a beautiful casket enclosing a precious treasure of stones and bricks. Cost 3 € with admission to the Museum of armor

  • Beautiful village, relatively little "advertised" where at least once in your life you have to go. Walls can be visited with only 3 euro and right of access even to the small museum.

  • Tall and well preserved walls that surround the entire village, two small (too small) portions are visible at the top using gangways, the total cost is 3 € and includes a visit to the Museum of armor. The view from above is nice and apparently in Monteriggioni, you can use the app for smartphones and tablets in virtual reality to understand what you are watching (unfortunately I did not use it, mea culpa, it seems to me an excellent idea anyway)
