Walls of Monteriggioni, Monteriggioni
(4.3/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
Walls of Monteriggioni is a fine example of a medieval walled town. Explore the village's central Piazza Roma and side streets to find hidden gardens and courtyards. Marvel at the 570 m (1,870 ft) of thick stone walls surrounding the town and the 14 towers punctuating the skyline. These were designed to protect the city from Florence's armies. Climb the barricades--nearly untouched since their construction in the early 13th century--for views of farmland and the city. Ask at the tourism center about guided tours of the city and the walls. • Interesting is interesting ... bele mura...il rest quite disappointing. For the feast of the Immaculate Conception-toe, some activities were total disinterest towards tourism, shops closed, open shops with owners more interested in smartphones that will sell. Then we talk of crisis? Restaurants closed ... those few opened deserve a separate discussion, a serious speech.

  • the walls are well maintained and upon arrival in the village are very impressive, but they can only visit a small piece, but also the cumulative ticket you can visit the Museum of armor

  • 3 € entrance with round upon the wall and entrance to the Museum (nice but small). Around the walls really lasts a moment because the walkway is only partial and not around the outline of the Castle! The view is nice but nothing visible from other surrounding areas! I expected more ...
