  • Romanesque style, this small church of stone facade is austere. But like everything else, the charm that has together with houses and Decree of the medieval setting square deserve.

  • The problem that this church is to be located in an area where there are beautiful churches galore. It is worth getting in seen overlooking the piazza of Monteriggioni. But not worth a trip, as well as not worth even a detour. :)

  • Inside the medieval village of Monteriggioni is this beautiful church, surmounted by a Bell Tower, inside which you will find some precious works of art.

  • Very nice small fort in tuscany. Mentioned even by Dante Alighieri in his works. And yes it was in game Assassins Creed 2, but it is just completely different there :)
  • Monteriggioni was once an outpost, existing to provide an early warning system for the defense of Siena from incursions by Florence. Kind of the equivalent of a frontier town in the American Old West. Within the ancient city's walls (which you can still climb atop) are several small streets and old stone facade buildings that have been there a long time. Among these is the Chiesa di Santa Maria, which dates from the 1200s. An afternoon stroll through these preserved and reconstructed relics is like being on a movie set for a film set in the Middle Ages. Only now they sell postcards, gelato and crafts rather than sever limbs. Highly recommend visiting here.
  • This romanesque-gothic church located in Piazza Roma.
  • Awesome place to visit. There's a structure built on the walls so you can tour and enjoy the country side landscape views from the top
  • Monteriggioni square overlooking the Church of Santa Maria Assunta: it was built in 1219 with a single wide nave, ending in a square apse with vaulted ceilings. The polychrome façade is made of travertine and sandstone and kicks in the Centre a large portal surmounted by a barrel vault above which opens a small rose window. Inside there are two shrines of the fifteenth century, a painting of our Lady of the Vanni, a precious wooden crucifix and a Bell dating from 1298 donated by the Republic of Siena. The Bell Tower was erected in the 18th century.
