  • Day meteorologically not indicated to visit this beautiful village with Abbey and convent akin, but these beauties can be appreciated even in the rain!

  • ... The Abbey seems out of an ancient time, medieval, set in an island of dwellings and hospitable on the route of the Via Francigena and not it's hard to imagine it as a landing point for pilgrims in a land then surrounded by marshes. Open to the entire, but unfortunately closed when we walked in on a hot and sunny afternoon from Colle Val d'Elsa. The atmosphere is suspended in time, magic and the rest appears merited, before resuming the path true Monteriggioni. A beautiful place to visit.

  • I stopped on my way on the Francigena to be hosted at Abbadia Isola, and I must say that I was right: the Abbey is probably unknown to most people, and that perhaps he suffers because of the proximity of Monteriggioni (2 Km), but it is a place that merits a visit. I had the wonderful privilege of visiting the Church (Romanesque church of the year 1000) guided by the Hospitallers volunteers: aside from the elevated presbytery already in itself constitutes a curiosity among the churches in the area, there are interesting frescoes and paintings, as well as a baptismal font of 1400. the exterior is nestled in the ancient village of Abbadia Isola, a real gem.
