The Abbey seems out of an ancient time, medieval, set in an island of dwellings and hospitable on the route of the Via Francigena and not it's hard to imagine it as a landing point for pilgrims in a land then surrounded by marshes. Open to the entire, but unfortunately closed when we walked in on a hot and sunny afternoon from Colle Val d'Elsa. The atmosphere is suspended in time, magic and the rest appears merited, before resuming the path true Monteriggioni. A beautiful place to visit.show original

I had the wonderful privilege of visiting the Church (Romanesque church of the year 1000) guided by the Hospitallers volunteers: aside from the elevated presbytery already in itself constitutes a curiosity among the churches in the area, there are interesting frescoes and paintings, as well as a baptismal font of 1400. the exterior is nestled in the ancient village of Abbadia Isola, a real gem.show original

A fascinating Abbey aisles with inside a beautiful religious painting. La pieve, partly to be restored, retains medieval tracts. There are also 2 restaurants. Worth a quick visit.show original
