  • The Duomo of Montepulciano stands in the place where stood the ancient Romanesque Parish Church of s. Maria, of which remain only the current Tower, which was never completed, limiting the marble at the top of the portico and the corners. The church building dates from the 16th century and lasted well into the 17th century. The façade is unfinished, occupies an entire side of the square and stands on a wide staircase: has three portals and three Windows to the sides a simple arched decoration framed by Doric pilasters. The Interior has a Latin cross with three naves divided by pilasters.

  • Been very positively surprised about the size and design of this Cathedral. This Church looks relatively small from the outside. Worth a visit from the inside.
