As Sentinel of stone, the fortress with its strict geometries and with its impressive silhouette is visible from afar. The fortress was built over 1300, as a massive military construction, but inside he later also turned into a residential building which housed important figures of the era. Upon reaching the steep road along a narrow winding road and Montefiore Conca, we realize now that the rock and the country are so integrated and part of each other. The fortified village is surrounded by a long perimeter of mighty walls interspersed with imposing towers at the foot of the walls a lovely walk lets us see the strength of this first defensive structure. Completed the giro delle mura leads to the village passing through Door Curina, stepped into the entrance arch, on the left is the beautiful Palace now seat of the Town Hall, and on the right the Church of San Paolo with his squat Bell Tower. Proceed uphill following a short cobblestone path until it reaches a solid wall that rested on two square towers joins the first city wall to the next. It can be accessed via the "porta del muro grosso", followed by a short stairway that overcomes even the last round of walls and reach the Castle. You are so at the foot of the imposing structure, you can work around completely thanks to a wide walkway terrace from which one can observe the mock facade of the South side of the fortress, built to give her greater grandeur, besides the square towers of the wall big and flat position below the large clearing in which probably held various activities related to life. From a final door leads to the inner courtyard of the Castle, in which stands a 14th-century marble pozzale. The courtyard facing several arched Windows and some doors to various residential wings of the Castle, and using long ladders and internal passages, see the various living environments. On the ground floor is a large room used as exhibition/Museum of artifacts found in the Castle. Always on the ground floor you can access to the archaeological site, the subject of recent excavations with discovery of wells and environments with vaults with openings for waste disposal, as well as an ingenious system to collect rainwater that, connected to a system of filters filled with sand, was Canalised purified water to a cistern. Rising from floor to floor it is possible to observe in some salt exposure "middle ages", which tells through daily living environments reconstruction corte malatestiana as, halls, kitchens and bedrooms, in addition to the tools and the costumes used each day between the 14th and 15th centuries. Interesting the Imperial room which houses frescoes in the mid 14th century, attributed to the bolognese painter Jacopo Avanzi. Other fragments of his paintings are exhibited in the throne room and a spacious and elegant room with vaulted ceilings. Unfortunately it is what remains of the many decorations which were to adorn the spacious rooms in the Malatesta period. Climbing to the top floor leads to the spacious terrace on top of the Castle, where there is the clock tower with the large terrace offering unique glimpses, where on clear days you can admire the panorama that stretches from the shores of the Adriatic coast up to the Republic of San Marino. You can also see, protected by glass plates, a part of the old original roofs and roof tiles of the old Castle. A village and a cultural-historical worth visiting fortress a few kilometers from the turbulent centers of the Adriatic coast.show original

Has been restored very well recently (work completed in 2008). It is a fortified village that dominates the Valley. The Interior of the fortress are a bit bare but is well worth the visit for the complex structure. The view then is spectacular!! Recommended!show original
