  • After visiting some of the better known and larger collections of art in Italy this wasn't that impressive. However the old wine making display in the lower basement made it worthwhile. The church and...  more »
  • You can visit the Museum with a series of works of the area exposed, the Church Museum of Saint Francis, which belonged to the Friars Minor and today is part of the Municipal Museum. Very nice the apse frescoed by Benozzo Gozzoli in 1452, with a series of scenes from the life of St. Francis, this is the first work that Gozzoli painted after leaving the workshop of Fra Angelico. Always by Benozzo Gozzoli but released after the frescoes of the apse, the chapel of Saint Jerome, what remains after a rehash of the Church in later years, with scenes from the life of Saint Jerome. Also a newsstand with a niche frescoed by Perugino. Good girl who escorted us to visit explaining the details and characteristics of the works. Ticket price with scheduled visit and tasting at enoteca 10 € pp.

  • Always riding around Umbria looking for art treasures, we arrived in the town of Montefalco more driven by the fame of this as "balcony of Umbria" that from the knowledge of treasures of the fresco. Arrived, and he admired the views really magnificent, we were directed to visit the art gallery housed in the former Church of San Francesco. What we got is a "shrine" Umbrian art. The frescoes of Benozzo Gozzoli are truly beautiful, well restored and very accesible by a public not "specialized". In addition to this masterpiece there are many other works to see even if they are not many.

  • Una perla di Montefalco
  • Montefalco is a great town and the Organization of the museum complex is enviable: other cities should definitely take inspiration. Beautiful places from the point of view of landscape artistic perspective.
