It's very charming, beautiful the mining village to walk awaiting the visit, locals who served as washery though partly fallen are gorgeous, the arrangement allows you to walk in the nature. The actual visit to the mine is interesting. All this is made even more exciting by Michela guide marks that believes in what he does with evident transportation and interest. Has stories to tell that lead us in places and among the people who crossed in 1800 was the largest copper mine in Europe. It is a great pleasure to be able to visit places like beauty accompanied by those who appreciates time and with skill and love. Will be back in the summer for the dinners and the initiatives that we hope will be many.
Ursea1952 innocentiOn the main square of Montecatini Val di Cecina, where is the Church of San Biagio, also rises the Praetorian Palace. It is a 14th-century building, went through several changes, with a beautiful façade embellished the portico with cross vaults and arches supported by elegant columns of Ionic order. The Palazzo until 1956 it was the seat of the Town Hall. Today it is the seat of the documentation centre of resources and activities related to the subsoil in Alta Val di Cecina. It is an integral part of a visit to the mining museum which in Montecatini Val di Cecina includes the mine of Caporciano. The Museum offers a glimpse of the rich variety of mineral resources that have been used since remote antiquity in Val di Cecina. In themed rooms: the other copper mines which in 1800 marked the most inaccessible locations, the role of rock salt-from ancient times to the present day-candida processing stone alabaster, the peculiarities of the geothermal reservoir and the use of endogenous fluids, the splendor of the mosaics made with chalcedony, the story of a lignite mine only, the singularities of sulfur springs the rich collection of minerals in their multifaceted capacity for manifestation.
Riccardo CovicchioIt was Thursday afternoon, a day off, we make a visit to the mine of Montecatini Val di Cecina. A unique experience for me, my wife and Lucia (the Guide). Story, exciting full and sincere, have only the feeling of working as miners makes me think how lucky we are. Too bad not being able to get into the deep. Il pozzo Alfredo elicits a creepy feeling. Wonderful
