  • Had a very nice guided tour around with very nice guide who knows everything about the place :) Despite the unusual cold day, had a very warm welcome discovering the history about this church.
  • Splendid architectural site, a must see. The information provided by this guide have been timely and competent. We should advertise the site mostly pointing out that there is "only" the Baroque in Modica.

  • The visit of Modica city should start from here. This, probably, the beginning of an illustrious past and illuminated been dragged on, over the centuries, through the progressive descent towards the Valley. A descent marked by the imposing beauty of the Castle, first, and then of Saint George. Down to the Creek, where the new bourgeois class that has replaced the upper nobility, he built the first houses and the Church of San Pietro. Santa Maria di Gesu cobserva the memory of this ancient nobility and is the momentum of a historical, social and architectural interest. Enjoys, in addition to its intrinsic beauty and historical importance, a great treasure: reopened to the public after decades of obscurantism, today it houses, explained and loved by a volunteer group of priceless expertise. The visit to the monument is a visit to the local culture, to its character and its ethnic and social connotations. How strange! Our visit has made use of the relevant explanations of a boy "imported". Sadowsky told us about those stones as a teenager in love with his girlfriend. Stuff of the past. Stuff of Sicily. And, like chocolate that ... Yes, if there is still some time, it is worthwhile to try and taste.

  • Entry is 3 euro per adult but comes with informative tour which is also provided in English. Finished restoration which started in 1991 in 2010. Definitely worth seeing!
  • Not open when I arrived. The location is in local residential area, and out of most tourist attractions area.
  • Great site dating back to 400. A must visit for the mixture of styles and for the absolute beauty in all its parts: the former Church, chapels and especially the cloister. A real gem!
